A ribbon cutting was held and a group of West Plains school students will forever stake claim to being on the first vehicle to cross the bridge upon its opening as their school bus lead the way.

Several city vehicles, local, county and state law enforcement vehicles, as well as fire and ambulance vehicles made the ceremonial first pass over the bridge.

This has been an 18 month project and provides a safe roadway for emergency services to access each side of town without the delay of a train.
