Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest on Arkansas Warrant and Seizure of Methamphetamine

From the Howell County Sheriff’s Department:
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 3:07 p.m., Deputy Robert Malone of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on State Route FF after observing a red Chevrolet Silverado traveling 68 mph in a 55-mph zone.
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Michael Roberts, admitted he did not possess a valid driver’s license. During the course of the stop, deputies learned that Roberts was currently on probation and parole and had an active felony warrant out of Greene County, Arkansas. The warrant, carried a $25,000 bond. Greene County authorities confirmed they would extradite Roberts, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
A passenger, identified was also present in the vehicle. Due to conflicting statements between Roberts and the passenger, along with suspicious behavior observed during the stop, Deputy Malone deployed his K-9 partner, “Spice,” who alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a backpack containing drug paraphernalia, used syringes, and two baggies containing a crystal-like substance that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Additional items, including digital scales, were collected and submitted for further forensic testing.
The passenger was released from the scene along with the vehicle. Deputies later obtained video surveillance footage from a local business, showing Roberts in the area carrying a bag matching the one located in the truck.
Roberts was transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center where he was booked on the Arkansas warrant. Additional charges related to narcotics and paraphernalia are pending review by the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office.
