An Oregon County traffic stop late Friday night resulted in multiple charges for a Myrtle man after troopers say they found methamphetamine, hallucinogens, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a trooper stopped a gray 2018 Toyota Tacoma around 11:56 p.m. on April 24 along State Route V near County Road 253 for a non-functioning license plate light. The passenger, identified as Dustin Shane Knapp, 33, was reportedly sitting on a torch-style lighter—something the trooper noted is commonly associated with drug use.
During the stop, the trooper reported that Knapp appeared to conceal something as he exited the vehicle. A consent search later uncovered two baggies containing a white crystalline substance about ten feet from the passenger door, along with a white rock-like substance scattered on the passenger seat. Both substances tested positive—one for methamphetamine, the other for 25D‑NBOMe, a Schedule I hallucinogen.
The trooper also noted evidence suggesting Knapp had been driving the vehicle despite initially switching seats with the female driver. Both occupants later admitted Knapp had been operating the truck.
Knapp was arrested at 12:17 a.m. on April 25 and booked on the following allegations:
- Felony possession of a controlled substance
- Felony driving while revoked (third or subsequent offense)
- Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia
- Failure to equip a vehicle with a rear license lamp
- Failure to wear a seatbelt
