A Licking man is facing multiple felony charges after a domestic disturbance call escalated into a violent confrontation with officers on January 16, 2025, according to a report filed in Texas County Circuit Court.
Police were dispatched to 321 Walker Street at 9:37 p.m. for a verbal dispute involving Chase Mings and his mother. Officers spoke with both individuals, who confirmed the argument had not become physical. During the investigation, Mings called 911 “to have a recording,” but officers advised him their body‑worn cameras were already capturing audio and video. He ended the call shortly afterward.
A warrant check revealed Mings had an active extraditable felony warrant out of Greene County. When officers informed him he was being detained pending confirmation of the warrant, Mings refused commands and began pulling away as officers attempted to handcuff him.
According to the report, Mings escalated the encounter by kicking both responding officers in the chest, arms, and legs, causing visible marks. Officers stated he repeatedly ignored commands to stop and made multiple attempts to grab the holstered firearms of both officers. A Taser was deployed, but Mings continued resisting, kicking at officers and attempting to headbutt one of them.
A third officer arrived to assist, but Mings allegedly assaulted him as well by kicking him in the arms and legs. Additional officers eventually gained control of Mings, placed him in handcuffs, and secured him in a patrol vehicle.
Mings was transported to the Texas County Justice Center. He is charged with three counts of first‑degree assault and one count of resisting arrest with his bond set at $100,000. All charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
