The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is now seeking applications for the position of deputy sheriff in the patrol division. This is a full time position with all applicable county benefits included. Starting base wage for the position is $45,162.00 per year, which can be increased based upon prior law enforcement experience. County benefits include fully paid health, dental, and vision insurance for the employee, 15 days paid vacation after one year of employment, 2 paid personal days per year, 11 paid holidays each year, accrued paid sick leave, participation in the state retirement system (APERS), and voluntary participation is offered in the county’s 457 deferred compensation plan as well. All equipment and uniforms are provided.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Already hold certification as a full time law enforcement officer through the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST) or other state equivalence that is recognized by CLEST. This certification includes the following:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pass a comprehensive background check.
- Pass a physical examination.
- Pass a psychological evaluation.
- Possess at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Be free of any felony convictions in any state or jurisdiction.
- Pass a pre-employment urinalysis drug screen and random testing thereafter.
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Possess a valid Arkansas driver license and reliable transportation.
- Meet any other requirements established by Sheriff’s Office policies.
