The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) has deployed a two-person response team to Austin, Texas, to support ongoing flood recovery efforts following severe weather that has impacted communities across the state.
The deployment comes at the request of Texas officials through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), a national mutual aid system that allows states to share resources during emergencies.
“This is a powerful example of how states come together in times of crisis,” said ADEM Director AJ Gary. “Emergency response knows no borders.”
The Arkansas team will operate out of the Texas State Emergency Operations Center, providing essential support in resource tracking, situational awareness, documentation, and interagency coordination. Team members will work 12-hour shifts alongside Texas and federal partners during an initial eight-day deployment, with the option for extension based on ongoing needs.
