Ava man arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, crashing into fence

On February 11, 2021, at approximately 8:37 p.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service that a truck wrecked into a private fence located on CR 305 off of east 14 highway.

Corporal Wallace and Deputy Coffee responded to the scene where they made contact with the driver, Devon Degase, 22, of Ava. While speaking with Devon, Corporal Wallace observed that he appeared to be under the influence of an unknown controlled substance.

Corporal Wallace arrested Devon and transported him back to the Douglas County Jail where he was placed under a 24-hour-hold and booked for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs Involving an Accident.

Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney filed a warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance Except 35 grams of Less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid a Class D Felony and Possession of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid of 10 Grams or Less – Prior Drug Offense a Class A Misdemeanor with a bond of $500 Cash and bond conditions of CPS Supervision with twice a week testing and a 7pm to 7 am curfew. Devon has recently bonded.

All subjects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
