Ava man turns himself in following MSHP Amber Alert

On Saturday, April 17, at approximately 4 a.m., Chad Emmerson, 53, of Ava, turned himself in at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), Emmerson allegedly took his son Thursday at 2:30 p.m. after assaulting the child’s mother at a home off of Rural Route 2. He allegedly discharged a gun inside the home.

As a result, the MSHP issued an Amber Alert. It was canceled Friday after the child was safely returned.

Emmerson was booked into the Douglas County jail on a warrant for the following:

Domestic Assault – 1st Degree, a Class B Felony
Endangering The Welfare of a Child creating Substantial Risk – 1st Degree – 1st Offense
three counts of Armed Criminal Action an Unclassified Felony,
two counts of Unlawful Use of Weapon
Bond was set at no bond
