West Plains, MO. – The Arts on the Avenue Organization, responsible for many of the events in the Avenue Theatre in recent years, ran into some trouble when they tried to expand operation when they found out that the ground under Avenue Theatre in West Plains was owned by a private entity, making them unable to take loans or to buy equipment.
This was resolved however, as the organization applied for an ARPA grant which allowed them to purchase the ground under the Theatre from the private entity for no small sum of $50,000.
“I am happy to announce that the Avenue Theatre is now fully-owned, 100%, by the organization; and that means by the community” spoken by Danette House, a representative of the Arts on the Avenue. She went on to state that many repairs are now in the works for the facility, including a fixing of the back wall, the roof, and more.
Lastly, one of the major projects of the Avenue that is possible with the changing of ownership, is the purchasing of movie equipment, which will be used to play movies in the Avenue, just as it once was.
