Baxter County, Ar. – On April 22, 2024, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Foundation received a donation from a local resident for the purchase of body armor.
The Baxter County Sheriff’s Department wants to thank current Quorum Court member Rhonda “Think” Albright for her $5,000 donation to the Sheriff’s Foundation. With this money, they were able to purchase new body armor for several deputies. It is widely recommended that the body armor the deputies use be replaced every five years for their safety. The body armor that the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department uses is from Galls/ They are a Threat Level lll A type vest that costs almost $1,000 each. The last time the deputies purchased just three vests it cost them approximately $3,100.
Over the years local residents and businesses have come forward with donations to help the Department keep the vests up-to-date. The Baxter County Sheriff’s Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization created in 2009 to provide support for the Sheriff’s Office. It is governed by unpaid volunteer members from the community.
