Baxter County Sheriff’s Office adds new feature to website

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has added a new feature to our inmate roster on our website www.baxtercountysheriff.com  yesterday, to help increase the transparency to the public about inmates who are booked in and being held in our Detention Center.  Now the public can see the number of times a person has been booked into the Baxter County Jail previously.  (Note: the prior bookings do not represent actual convictions of crimes) Those people have signed up to received the inmate roster in their email each day, should have noticed the change this morning. The Google and Apple Store Apps will reflect this change in the very near future.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office launched its website in 2007 and has added several new features since then. Sex Offender maps, Most Wanted, Frequently Asked Questions, Outstanding Warrants of Arrests, Sheriff and Captain’s Newsletters and the Real Time Inmate Roster are just a few of the features our website contains. Its popularity continues to grow, averaging 2.551 million visits and more than 619 thousand unique visitors each year, over the past three years.  The website’s popularity has been featured in numerous news broadcasts across the Nation and it also won the Arkansas Digital Government Transformation Award in 2018.

“As Sheriff, I have been sounding my frustration and alarm at the number of repeat offenders and lack of accountability for their actions for the past several years and I hear the frustration from the citizens within our community,” said Sheriff John Montgomery. “While this new feature only reflects prior bookings in the Baxter County Detention Center and not other jails in this or other states, we believe this added feature will better inform the public of the problems and frustration law enforcement faces every day by letting them quickly see how many times a person has been in our jail.”
