On May 3rd Shannon County Sherriff’s Department were dispatched to Birch Tree about a juvenile stealing. According to a probable cause statement Law enforcement were contacted by three adults who advised them to approach the male with caution as he was believed to be highly autistic and non-verbal.

While some of the adults stayed to keep an eye on the young man another adult went with the officer to show the place of residence for the juvenile where the mother’s car was located.  Attempts to knock were unsuccessful and a request for more officers was called in to central dispatch.  The Juvenile returned home and attempts to speak with him were made but he did not respond.  The officer stated that he did not follow him inside as it was unknown how he would respond.  The juvenile did exit the home and got into the backseat of his mother’s car, to charge his phone and tablet.  The juvenile was safely removed from his mother’s car and one of the officers remained with him while another went into the home to secure the area, as they had been advised of firearms in the home.  A firearm ws located just inside the door which was easily accessible to the juvenile.  The home was also found to be without running water or electricity and the home was missing many floorboards and the home had human and animal feces throughout, and it was determined that these were unsafe living conditions.  The juvenile was taken to the Shannon County Sheriff’s Department and taken by Child Services.  The mother returned home later that afternoon and was arrest and Treasa R Holmes was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Abuse or Neglect of a Child.
