Boys and Girls Club sets registration, COVID-19 guidelines for Fall program

The Boys and Girls Club of the Greater West Plains Area has announced plans for the Fall program, including how it will handle COVID-19 concerns. New CEO Josh Sherman penned the following letter, which was emailed to all parents who have children in the Boys and Girls Club.

We are pleased to share with you information on our upcoming Fall 2020 program period for both the Thayer and West Plains sites. Our organization has received many inquiries about how the fall program period will be handled with respect to COVID19. Thus, please use this correspondence as a guide when considering registering for the fall 2020 program period which starts August 24, 2020 and concludes December 23, 2020.

Registration: Registration will take place solely online for both the West Plains and Thayer sites. Enrollment will commence at 6:30am CST on August 3, 2020 for the West Plains site and  at 6:30am CST on August 10, 2020 for the Thayer site. The registration links are site specific and will be available at www.bgcwp.com. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Thus, we encourage you to register as soon as possible on the date of registration to ensure your placement.

Account Balances: All outstanding account balances must be paid in full prior to enrollment. To be eligible for enrollment, balances must be paid in full and the registration fee must be paid at the time of accepted enrollment. Payments can be accepted via credit card, cash or check. Please contact Miranda Lowry, BGCWP Membership Coordinator, at 417-204-2582 or mlowry@bgcwp.com to satisfy account balances. Please make all arrangements and contact with Miranda as the registration process is conducted by her for all sites.

Membership Fees: The BGCWP membership fee structure for Fall 2020 is as follows for the Thayer & West Plains sites which is based on annual household income:

Annual Household Income of $34,000+ l $50/member
Annual Household Income of $23,000-$33,999 l $37.50/member
Annual Household Income of $22,999 or less l $25/member

Hours of Operation:  The hours of operation will be as follows for after-school days:
West Plains: 3:00pm-6:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday      Wednesday 2:00pm-6:30pm
Thayer: 3:00pm-6:00pm Monday-Friday
(Full Days will operate 7:30am-5:30pm unless otherwise noted due to inclement weather, etc.)

Capacity: To maintain a responsible environment to physically distance members while on the premises, capacities are adjusted (see below) pursuant to room sizes.

COVID19: Due to limited capacity and other restrictions, drop-ins are not permitted. Additionally, the BGCWP has released a position statement that outlines policies, procedures and guidelines that detail the COVID19 response within the facilities specific to the fall program period.

In brief, the organization will require all youth members and staff to wear a face covering at the West Plains Site and will only require staff to wear a face covering at the Thayer Site.

We encourage you to review this information prior to enrollment to ensure compliance and safety measures are met by you and your participant.

The COVID19 Protocols & Procedures were adopted by the Board of Directors to be effective August 24, 2020. The protocls and procedures outlines various waivers, exemptions, acknowledgements, etc. that will be integrated into the online registration process.

We understand this may not answer all questions you may have but we are here to answer or clarify questions for you.
