According to a probable cause statement filed by the Thayer Police Department, the victim reported on Nov. 14 that her cell phone, case, and the debit and credit cards stored inside were missing. After contacting her bank, she learned that several unauthorized transactions had been made that same morning at Casey’s General Store.

Police say the fraudulent charges occurred at 3:08 a.m. for $109.76, at 3:19 a.m. for $100, and at 5:14 a.m. for $110.35. A fourth attempt at 5:32 a.m. for $100 was declined.

Investigators obtained receipts from Casey’s and later secured surveillance footage through subpoena. The footage allegedly shows Aden Chase Kantor, a former employee of the victim with regular access to her property, making the purchases and primarily buying lottery tickets.

Sergeant Carter DeWitt stated that he recognized Kantor from prior law‑enforcement contacts and identified him as the individual using the victim’s credit card.

The case has been forwarded to the Oregon County Prosecuting Attorney for review. Police are requesting an arrest warrant, noting that Kantor is also wanted in Arkansas for unrelated felony offenses and is unlikely to appear voluntarily.

Charges requested include:

  • Stealing (RSMo 570.030)
  • Financial exploitation of an elderly or disabled person (RSMo 570.145)
