City Crews Working to Repair Damages to Power Lines from Sunday Storms

From the City of West Plains:

Strong storms and high winds moved through West Plains Sunday evening, resulting in several power outages across the city.

Between 6:00 p.m. on March 15 and 4:00 a.m. on March 16, City of West Plains electric crews responded to multiple outages affecting approximately 2,400 customers. Crews worked for 11 hours overnight, often in high winds and temperatures below 20 degrees, to safely restore service as quickly as possible.

The outages were caused by several storm-related issues, including:
• A tree in a power line, which faulted a circuit out of the Lanton Substation
• A broken utility pole on Washington Avenue
• A second fault out of the Lanton Substation

Two poles were damaged during the storm and required repair.
Our crews remained on the job throughout the night to restore power and ensure the system was operating safely. Safety is always our top priority, both our crews working in the field and for the residents we serve. Power restoration work often requires crews to move carefully and methodically, especially when dealing with storm damage, high winds and extreme temperatures.

Crews will continue working throughout the day today to repair remaining damage and ensure the reliability of the system moving forward.

We want to thank our electric department crews for their dedication and hard work in difficult conditions, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our residents as repairs were completed.
