A West Plains man is facing felony charges after a domestic violence incident according to local law enforcement.
On August 17, officers responded to a residence in West Plains following reports of a domestic disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The suspect, identified as Grayson Smith, allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim that escalated into physical violence.
According to the police report, the victim stated Smith attempted to force baggies of suspected narcotics down her throat. When she tried to leave, Smith allegedly grabbed her by the neck with both hands and began strangling her, causing her to lose the ability to breathe. She further reported being punched on the left side of her head with what she believed was a closed fist.
Responding officers documented multiple injuries on the victim, including:
- A small laceration on her chin
- Red marks around her neck
- A red mark on her right elbow
- A bruise on her left calf
- A red mark on her right knee
All injuries were reportedly sustained during the altercation with Smith.
On August 20, Officer Jesse Martin arrested Smith and read him his Miranda Rights. Smith made a brief statement, claiming “she had a gun,” but declined to provide further details.
His Bond is set at $10,000.
