Deputy James Pueppke reported seeing a white Dodge truck known to be operated by Jacob James parked at Plummer’s convenience store around 3:30 p.m. The deputy wrote that he was aware James had an active felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.

After confirming the vehicle’s registration and the active warrant, Pueppke initiated a traffic stop on State Highway 95. James was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Douglas County Jail.

During an inventory of the truck, Sgt. Aaron Box reported finding a tan zipper case inside a jacket on the passenger seat. Inside, he located a glass smoking device and a small baggie containing a white crystalline substance. Field tests on both items showed a positive indication for methamphetamine.

Deputies also found a plastic straw believed to be a snorting device, though it did not test positive for narcotics. All items were seized as evidence, and the vehicle was released to a towing company.

James faces recommended charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
