Drought Conditions Continue, But Expected to Resolve Sometime Next Year

A much needed rain has come and is expected to continue tomorrow in the Ozarks, but drought conditions are still active in both Missouri and Arkansas, according to the latest drought monitor report from the National Weather Service.

The abnormally dry conditions during the summer months can still be felt through much of the listening area even now, but these conditions are steadily lessening as we go through this season. Parts of Texas County and Wright Counties have seen drought conditions resolve, but most of the area is still classified as a D0 in severity. Sections of Oregon, Shannon, Howell, and Ozark Counties are still within D1 severity, and neighbors in Baxter and Fulton Counties may still be experiencing severity in the D2 range.

Projections that extend to February 28th from the NWS state that they expect much of the area to see a total resolving of drought conditions, with exceptions of persistence occurring within Arkansas, being more common as one would progress further South.
