Drought Expected to Persist, Despite Rain Arriving to the Ozarks

The National Weather Service has released its expectations regarding the drought conditions prevalent throughout the Ozarks this summer, and signs are pointing to this: the drought is expected to persist through December, despite the rain that has fallen and may yet fall.

D3 (extreme) drought conditions have swept into the Bootheel and northeastern Arkansas, which means D2 (severe) drought conditions have spread further into the listening area. This excludes a portion of eastern Texas County and western Shannon County, where incoming rainfall has eased concerns somewhat.

While rain was a welcome visitor to the area over the weekend, it doesn’t appear to be alleviating projections of continued dryness over the next few months. The latest information packet has been included below.
