From the Shannon County Sheriff’s Department:
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at approximately 7:18 p.m., Shannon County deputies were patrolling near 5th Street and Day Avenue in Summersville when a green Dodge Durango blew through a stop sign and nearly slammed into a patrol vehicle.
The driver, later identified as Christy Cobble, showed a blatant disregard for public safety.
Deputies immediately initiated a traffic stop. What they discovered was alarming: an open bottle of Wild Turkey whiskey resting between Cobble’s legs, and a passenger identified as Howard Crane.
Further investigation revealed Cobble was driving on a revoked license—and that was just the beginning. Deputies located a glass pipe (“bubble”) coated with burnt crystallized residue, along with a baggie of white crystalline shards weighing approximately 1.6 grams. Both items were tested with a TruNarc device and confirmed to be methamphetamine.
Cobble and Crane have been formally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony) and are each being held on $5,000 cash-only bonds. Additional charges—including DWI (Drugs/Alcohol), multiple traffic violations, and further drug offenses—are expected.
