Drug Charges for Two Douglas County Residents

Two Ava residents were taken into custody Thursday morning after Douglas County deputies and Ava police served a narcotics search warrant at an apartment on East Grand Avenue.

According to probable cause statements filed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, investigators executed the warrant around 7 a.m. on January 15 at an Apartment occupied by Lisa Storey‑Ransom, 57, and Kevin Hansen, 55. The warrant followed a positive methamphetamine test by Storey‑Ransom and her admission that methamphetamine was present inside the residence.

Deputies located two baggies containing a crystal‑like residue that field‑tested positive for methamphetamine, along with digital scales, small baggies commonly used for distribution, and a snort straw. Both Storey‑Ransom and Hansen were taken into custody at the time of the search.

Hansen was advised of his Miranda rights and acknowledged that methamphetamine was in the apartment, telling deputies the baggies were in the bedroom. He later tested positive for methamphetamine and other substances at the sheriff’s office. Storey‑Ransom also tested positive for methamphetamine following her arrest.

Both individuals are charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. They were booked into the Douglas County Jail pending formal court proceedings.
