Early Morning Shooting in Willow Springs Leaves One Man with Injuries

Press release from the Willow Springs Police Department:

On 7/9/2025 at approximately 0130 hours, Officer Mark Templemere #410, responded to the area of 210 Frisco, Willow Springs Missouri, reference a subject who had been shot.

Templemere located the subject east of the address along Frisco. The subject had an apparent gunshot wound to the right arm. The victim was identified as John Paul Clifford Jones, who resided at the address. Jones was transported to Springfield Cox south by Willow Springs Ambulance.

Jones advised he was shot by his girlfriend, Meredith Helms, during an argument at the address. Helms was detained at the address and transported to Willow Springs Police Department. A weapon was recovered at the scene.

Meredith Anne Helms was later transported to Howell County Sheriff’s Office and placed on a 24 hour hold on charges of:

  • Domestic Assault 1st Degree
  • Unlawful use of a firearm
  • Armed Criminal Action

 

Incident is still under investigation.
