Van Buren, MO. – An Ellsinore man is facing a felony 2nd degree rape charge after events that took place on February 22nd.
The probable cause affidavit on the case states that a victim approached the Carter County Sheriff’s Office at 7pm on February 23rd, explaining what had happened the night before.

Eric Butler, 42 of Ellsinore, is said to have visited a female victim at a late hour asking for sexual intercourse before being denied. Despite this rejection, he continued to pursue activity. While physical force was not used, Butler admitted to having continuing to persist despite lack of consent.
Based on victim statements, suspect admission, and a previous record of sexual assault, Butler was taken into custody.
