Open Maker Space
Stop by the Library on Saturday, January 6, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm for Open Maker Space—an opportunity to access cutting-edge equipment, including sewing machines, a Cuttlebug embosser, Pop Circuits, a Cricut, a heat press, and more. Registration for this program is required and will close on Jan. 1 at 10am. Equipment is limited and must be reserved. For reservations or inquiries, please contact Jamie Vann at jamie.v@baxlib.org.
Mobile Mammography Unit
On Tuesday, January 9, from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm, you can take a proactive step toward your health by visiting the Mobile Mammography Unit, which will be parked outside of the Library. Contact Jamie at 870-580-0980 to determine your eligibility for screening and register. Tech Help
Are you facing challenges with your cell phone or smart device? Join in at the Library on Tuesday, January 9th, at 4:15 pm for an interactive session at Cell Phone Help, where our dedicated teen volunteers will provide hands-on assistance. Please bring your own cell phone. Library staff and teen volunteers will not enter any personal information such as usernames and passwords. Please note: The Library does NOT provide cell phone repair services. This program is open to the public, and NO registration is required.
Artist Reception: Visiting Art on Display
Discover the beauty of art on Saturday, January 13, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Visit this season’s artists, Jack Arnold, Carol Rivas, and Jenna Wellein, and enjoy their artwork on temporary display. Engage with the artists, ask questions about their work, and explore the inspiration behind their creations. Refreshments will be provided.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
On Thursday, January 18, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, participate in the American Red Cross Blood Drive. Reservations are encouraged, and walk-ins are welcome. You can also earn Library fine forgiveness each time you donate at a Library blood drive. Up to $25 of credit is given per blood donation. You can split payment between two accounts or “Pay It Forward” to help a friend or stranger. Expires after one week.
Donate blood to automatically be entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas! The American Red Cross and the NFL are partnering for the fifth year during National Blood Donor Month this January and invite football fans and blood donors to join the lifesaving team to score big for patients in need. The winner and guest will get to enjoy Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, access to day-of in-stadium pre-game activities, tickets to the official Super Bowl Experience, round-trip airfare to Las Vegas, three-night hotel accommodations (Feb. 9-12, 2024), plus a $1,000 gift card for expenses.
