An accident Sunday morning has claimed the life of a 62-year-old Mansfield man. The accident occurred on US Highway 60 one mile east of Mansfield when he slowed to turn right in his off the highway in the 2008 Chevy Silverado and was struck in the rear by a 2005 Ram driven by a 48-year-old Ava man. Upon impact the chevy went off the roadway and overturned multiple times according to the MSHP Crash Report.
The Mansfield man was pronounced deceased at the scene, the Ava man was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Neither man was wearing their safety belts. This is the 33rd fatality in Troop G this year.
