Yellville, Ark. — A Flippin man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly resisting arrest and being found in possession of several firearms during a law enforcement operation earlier this week, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
James Brent Torres, 47, of Flippin, was arrested on June 24, 2025, on four counts of Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons, a Class D felony, and one count of Resisting Arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander, deputies arrived at Torres’s residence on Marion County Road 7058 to serve a felony arrest warrant issued by the Marion County Circuit Court. Upon announcing themselves, Sheriff Alexander reported that Torres attempted to shut the door to avoid apprehension. Sheriff Alexander forced entry, and Torres allegedly began to actively resist arrest.
During the struggle, Torres retrieved a black handgun from his waistband and threw it behind a bed, authorities said. Additional deputies arrived on the scene and were able to subdue and restrain Torres.
Later that evening, investigators executed a search warrant at the residence, where they discovered two additional firearms and ammunition in Torres’s bedroom.
Torres is currently being held at the Marion County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash-only bond, pending his first appearance in Marion County Circuit Court.
The investigation remains ongoing.
