Four Injured in Car vs. Side-By-Side Crash

Houston, MO. – A two-vehicle crash at an intersection between two Missouri Highways has ended in four individuals being injured, and both vehicles totaled in the aftermath.

Yesterday morning, at roughly 8:40, a 2015 Polaris Ranger UTV was being driven Northbound by Oscar Smith, 57 of Bucyrus, MO. Smith turned into the path of another vehicle, a Southbound 2008 Chevy Malibu driven by Harvey Sullins, 52 of Success.

The impact of the two vehicles caused them to both leave the roadway, and the Polaris side-by-side caught fire not long after. Smith was seriously injured in the accident, while Sullins suffered minor injuries. However, two occupants of the Malibu were also injured, Dustin Flinn, 40, and Tyler Russel, 24, both of Success; Flinn sustained minor injuries, and Russell sustained moderate injuries. All were transported to Texas County Memorial for treatment. Smith was not wearing a safety device.

This accident was investigated by Master Sergeant R.D. Vaughn of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G.
