From Droughts to Rain – Weather Changes Lead into NWS Severe Weather Awareness Week

Weather patterns have shown major dryness within the listening area every since the snow and ice we received in January, but Red Flag warnings will go into potential severe weather over the weekend as we approach Severe Weather Awareness Week with the National Weather Service.

Peyton Camden, meteorologist with the National Weather Service gives us an idea of what to expect over the next week:

To summarize, today and tomorrow dry conditions will continue, with tomorrow being especially susceptible to fire risks as warm, dry air floods the region.

Then as we go into Sunday rain chances will begin to come in as temperatures drop, with further chances of rain being present until next weekend. A possibility of severe weather is also present as we approach the mid-week.

On top of this, the National Weather Service will officially have their Severe Weather Preparedness Week taking place, where they provide information on the risks of severe weather as we approach the coming storm season. Look for additional resources from the NWS next week.
