Heart of the Ozarks Half Marathon Saturday Morning

West Plains, MO — The City of West Plains is proud to host the annual Heart of the Ozarks Half Marathon this Saturday, February 14, 2026, welcoming runners, volunteers, and spectators from across the region. The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. near the Historic Post Office on Main Street and conclude at approximately 10:30 a.m.
 
City officials are reminding residents that temporary road closures and traffic adjustments will be in place to ensure the safety of participants and the community.
 
Weather forecasts currently indicate a high chance of rain on Saturday. City officials are advising residents, participants, and motorists to prepare for wet conditions and to use additional caution when traveling.
 
Motorists should expect delays in and around the race area. With wet roads anticipated, drivers are strongly encouraged to:
Reduce speed, especially near the race route
Allow extra travel time
Increase following distance
Watch carefully for runners, volunteers, and law enforcement personnel
Obey instructions from law enforcement and traffic control personnel
 
Rain can reduce visibility and increase stopping distances. Drivers should use headlights when necessary and remain especially cautious at intersections and crosswalks along the course.
