West Plains, MO. – Earlier today, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office announced that one of their own was injured as an inmate attempted to escape custody. The announcement will be included below.
This morning at approximately 11:00 AM an inmate escaped from custody while being transferred. During the escape attempt one of our Deputies sustained injuries. The deputy is being seen by medical professionals at this time.
The escaped inmate and the person who aided his escape were apprehended after a short vehicle pursuit.
Since the incident involves injuries to one of our own, we have asked the West Plains Police Department to conduct the investigation.
