Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative Shares Heat Safety Tips for Outdoor Workers

As summer temperatures rise, Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (HOEC) is reminding workers and community members of the importance of preventing heat stress while working outdoors.

To stay safe in the heat, HOEC recommends the following precautions:

  • Hydrate often — don’t wait until you’re thirsty.
  • Take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
  • Plan work schedules to complete strenuous tasks during cooler times of day.
  • Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
  • Use sunscreen, and wear a hat and sunglasses.
  • Stay alert for signs of heat stress and look out for others.
