A Las Vegas woman was arrested on multiple charges after allegedly driving northbound in the southbound lane near the intersection of State Highway 5 and State Highway 14 on Nov. 3.
Douglas County deputies responded after dispatch received a report from a Squire’s firefighter who witnessed the silver Dodge Dakota, bearing Nevada plates, veer fully into oncoming traffic. Deputies Shane Harden and Sam Evans located the vehicle near the Missouri Fox Trotter’s facility on North State Highway 5.

The driver, identified as Chrystal De Leon, exited the vehicle and spoke with deputies. Her husband, Jose De Leon, remained inside with an aggressive dog in the back seat. Chrystal was informed of the reason for the stop and underwent field sobriety testing, which revealed signs of impairment including involuntary eye movements and balance issues. She was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
During a vehicle inventory, deputies discovered a pill bottle with Chrystal’s name containing two baggies with crystalline residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. A duffel bag also contained Alprazolam prescribed to Jose De Leon, along with other medications labeled for Chrystal.
Both individuals face two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Chrystal De Leon also faces charges of DWI and careless and imprudent driving. The vehicle was towed to a secure lot in Ava, and a blood sample was obtained from Chrystal for toxicology analysis.
