According to a probable cause statement filed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, 44‑year‑old Dawne Michelle Crockett is accused of entering a trailer on County Road 444 and stealing numerous items while the owners were out of state. The report states Crockett “entered her trailer after she and her family left for Kansas and stole several items” .

Deputies say the stolen property included electronics, books, a refrigerator, a laptop, children’s schoolwork, a Strong’s Concordance, a 1560 Geneva Bible, and other household items. A later voicemail from the victim reported additional missing items, including a Roman‑style sword, children’s DVDs, colored pencils, and water birthing system components. The document lists items such as a “Roman-style sword with buck in the handle” and a “DVD collection in a black sleeve…” among those reported stolen .

Detectives executed a search warrant at Crockett’s residence on April 6, where they recovered many of the items. The report notes Crockett admitted taking “a few” of the items but denied most of the thefts. Deputies placed her under arrest after the search, and she was transported to the Douglas County Jail on a 24‑hour hold for second‑degree burglary, stealing, and possession of stolen property.
