Local Family Faces Life-Changing Battle with Breast Cancer, Community Rallies to Support

(West Plains)A young family in our community is facing an unimaginable challenge, and friends, neighbors, and kind-hearted supporters are being asked to help. Kinsey Mincey, 31, her husband John, and their three children, a 6-year-old daughter, a 3-year-old daughter, and their newborn son Hux, are in urgent need of assistance as they navigate a battle with breast cancer that has turned their lives upside down.

Kinsey’s journey began while she was seven months pregnant with Hux, experiencing severe back pain that led to a devastating diagnosis: breast cancer that had already spread to her liver and spine. Her condition left her immobile, walking only with assistance, and her unborn son at risk. Doctors carefully administered one round of chemotherapy to protect the baby while stabilizing Kinsey’s health until Hux could be safely delivered. Born prematurely, Hux spent seven weeks in the NICU before finally coming home on September 1st.

Since then, Kinsey has undergone four rounds of chemotherapy and a kyphoplasty procedure to stabilize her spine, with additional treatments ahead. The toll on this young family is profound. Kinsey is unable to work, and John, who is self-employed, can only work sporadically while caring for Kinsey and their children. The family faces mounting medical bills, daily expenses, and the immense emotional strain of caring for three young children during such a difficult time.

A fundraising campaign has been launched to help ease the burden. Donations will go directly toward medical costs, household needs, and childcare so John can focus on supporting Kinsey and their children. Most importantly, the family asks for the community’s prayers, believing in the power of hope and healing.

“Any support, no matter how small, will make a difference,” said Sandra Allen Causey, a family friend helping to coordinate the fundraiser. “This beautiful family is holding on to hope, and together, we can lift them up with love and support.”
