Man Jailed Without Bond Following Extradition from Florida

AVA, Mo. — A Forsyth man indicted in 2024 on drug and impaired driving charges is now in custody in Douglas County after being extradited from Florida earlier this month.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Alan Otis Jones was returned to Missouri on March 19 on an active no-bond warrant issued by a Douglas County grand jury. He is currently being held in the Douglas County Jail without bond.

The charges stem from a February 2024 investigation led by Sgt. Aaron Box. A grand jury later indicted Jones on March 6, 2024.

The indictment alleges Jones possessed methamphetamine on or about Feb. 5, 2024, in Douglas County, a class D felony. He is also charged with driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor, related to the same date and incident .

A warrant for Jones’ arrest was issued March 8, 2024, citing probable cause for both charges, including possession of a controlled substance and DWI .

Following his return to Missouri, court activity resumed in the case. The warrant was served March 19, 2026, and an arraignment is scheduled for March 30, 2026, before Judge Craig Carter in Douglas County.

Additional court documents outline prior bond conditions tied to the case, including supervision, drug and alcohol testing, and restrictions on travel and contact, though Jones is currently being held without bond following his extradition .

All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
