Melbourne Woman Arrested in Salem on Aggravated Assault; Reckless Driving Charges

SALEM, Ark. — Amanda Kay Edwards, 38, of Melbourne, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, classified as a felony, and reckless driving, classified as a misdemeanor, in connection with an incident at Hill’s Auto Sales in Salem. She posted $10,000 bail and was released.

According to a sworn affidavit, a white Genesis GV70 rear-ended a parked Dodge Challenger on the lot, causing the parked vehicle to strike the victim, who was standing in front of their car. Before entering the dealership, the Genesis had been seen driving erratically and at high speeds in town, the affidavit states.

The victim told officers the driver intentionally hit their vehicle and continued accelerating after the initial impact, pushing the car toward the victim. The affidavit, submitted by Salem Police Officer Dakota McGrew, describes the driving as reckless and says it created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury.

The case is pending in Fulton County Circuit Court. Edwards is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
