Missouri State Highway Patrol Issues PSA Ahead of Back-to-School Traffic

With Back-to-School time just around the corner, the hustle and bustle of busy parents, packed buses, and kids crossing streets will be back on the roadways. With the changes in traffic, there are chances of mistakes to be made by drivers on the road.

In an effort to keep our communities youth safe during this season, the Missouri State Highway Patrol released an article, giving advice and information to make the morning commute safer for everyone of all ages.

In the article, it outlines advice for both parents and students. It states that, statistically, most traffic crashes involving minors under 21, occur between 3 and 4 when school lets out, and that texting while operating a vehicle is against the law for anyone under the age of 22.

For parents, it reminds them they should talk to their children about how to be safe when walking, driving, or riding a bus to school, and that biking should always be paired with helmets and proper traffic law adherence.
