West Plains, MO. – A Thayer man is in serious condition when his motorcycle struck a deer Monday morning. The crash occurred at 8:30 a.m. on US 63, two miles north of Houston, Missouri according to Highway Patrol reports.
A northbound 2003 Harley Davidson driven by Joel Kelley, age 68 of Thayer, was struck by a deer, causing Kelley to lose control and overturn the motorcycle off of the right side of the highway. The uninsured driver had not been wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries from the crash.
He was taken from the scene by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
