A Mountain Grove man has been taken into custody following a reported domestic disturbance on January 28, according to a probable cause statement filed in Wright County. Officers were dispatched to a home on 7th Street around 7:38 p.m., where they spoke with the victim, who reported that Brian Champagne had attempted to force his way into a bedroom while demanding a Pepsi and had tried to start a physical altercation with her son.
The victim told officers that Champagne made threats to “beat” and kill the second victim, statements that were reportedly captured on video. Officers reviewed the footage, which showed Champagne yelling outside the bedroom door.
When contacted by officers, Champagne was described as uncooperative and argumentative. After further interviews and review of evidence, officers determined he was the aggressor. Champagne was arrested and transported to the Wright County Jail.
He has been charged with 1st Degree Stalking, his bond is set at $5,000.
