Mountain Home Man Cashes Stolen Check, is Arrested

Mountain Home, AR. – A man from Mountain Home, AR has been arrested after attempting to cash a stolen check at the First Security Bank in Gassville.

This arrest was set in motion after the U.S. Post Office in Mountain Home contacted law enforcement on the recovery of mail from six different parties.

During the investigation, one of the victims that had lost mail informed law enforcement that blank checks had been removed from some of his mail, and that someone attempted to use one of the stolen checks at the First Security Bank.

Dustin Sandoval, 32 of Mountain Home, arrested on check fraud.

The suspect was shortly thereafter identified as Dustin Sandoval, a 32-year-old Mountain Home resident. Sandoval was taken into custody at 2:08pm on February 8th; he also admitted to the attempted theft of $3,000 through cashing the check, and to obtaining the checks from a pair who were arrested in a recent slew of mail theft incidents.

Sandoval has had 11 prior bookings in the Baxter County Detention Center, and is charged with Parole Violation, Non-Payment of Fines x2, Forgery, and Felony Theft by Receiving. He is being held on a $12,600 bond.
