West Plains, MO. – Those who are looking for a way to dispose of old medications should be aware that National Drug Take Back Day is coming up next week.
The DEA says the aim of this day is to “to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.”
While this day does give an opportunity for people to get rid of old medications, no questions asked, local law enforcement agencies including the West Plains PD and Howell County Sheriff’s Office, have set up boxes specifically for drop off of these materials year-round.
While there are limitations on what can be put inside these boxes, such as no needles and ni liquids, it is important to remember their presence even past this nationally recognized event.
