A Neosho man was taken into custody Sunday night after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a local hotel, where witnesses and victims reported threats involving a machete and damage to property.
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the hotel around 9:50 p.m. on February 8. Texas County deputies arrived first and detained Samual Vidaurri, who was found standing in the roadway outside the building.
Deputies made contact with two victims inside Room 3. One victim told investigators that Vidaurri became angry while the group had been drinking, began throwing items, and threatened both her and her daughter with a small machete. She also reported that Vidaurri threatened to slash her tires and break the windows of her vehicle. The child confirmed that Vidaurri had a knife and had threatened her.
A witness in another room reported hearing yelling, a child say “oww,” and a man outside shouting and banging on the door, threatening to break car windows.
Deputies say the victim showed them a broken phone valued at about $60, a damaged clipboard, and a broken taillight on her vehicle estimated at $200. Two machetes were recovered from the room, and a third—described as the one used in the threats—was reportedly found on Vidaurri at the time of his arrest.
Vidaurri denied hitting the victim or threatening her with a machete but admitted entering the room after she partially opened the door.
He was transported to the Texas County Jail on a 24‑hour hold. Prosecutors have charged him with first‑degree domestic assault, first‑degree endangering the welfare of a child, armed criminal action, and second‑degree property damage.
