Nick Ortiz, RN, Honored with DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing at Ozarks Healthcare ICU

(West Plains, MO) Ozarks Healthcare is proud to announce Nick Ortiz, RN, from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), as the latest recipient of the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Ortiz earned this recognition after demonstrating exceptional dedication and compassion while caring for a patient in critical condition. When traditional treatments failed and intubation was being considered, Ortiz requested an opportunity to continue care. He remained with the patient throughout his entire shift, providing calm and unwavering support. By day’s end, the patient had made a remarkable recovery and was able to walk the halls, alert and calm.

Patrick Barnes, who passed away due to complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), the award celebrates nurses whose extraordinary efforts deeply impact patients’ lives.

Ozarks Healthcare also extends gratitude to FNBC, the newest sponsor of the DAISY Award program. Their support helps ensure that exceptional nurses like Ortiz continue to be recognized for their vital contributions.
