NWS Calls for Multiple Bouts of Heavy Rain This Weekend

The National Weather Service in Springfield has made an official call regarding upcoming changes to the weather within the Ozarks, and the message is clear: multiple periods of heavy rain are expected, and potential for severe storms will be present Friday through Monday.

According to the latest DSS Packet from the National Weather Service, while most of the excessive rainfall and flooding potential lies in areas west of Springfield, these storms still hold a decent chance of traveling into our listening area. The highest potential for thunderstorms and any flooding remains on Saturday night, and into Sunday morning.

Hazards possible throughout the entirety of this storm chain includes large hail, damaging wind, and the potential of tornadoes, with a major focus being on Sunday.

In addition, with all of the rainfall expected over the next few days, flash flooding remains a concern. Keep an eye out on low-water crossings while traveling, and remember: turn around, don’t drown.
