WEST PLAINS, Mo – Coworkers at Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) recently came together to raise money to help each other out during a time when families are struggling. Officials at the healthcare system announced that $2,149.00 was raised for their employee crisis fund through t-shirt sales.
“We had to make major financial adjustments earlier this year as a result of the pandemic,” said Tom Keller, OMC President and CEO. “Unfortunately, other businesses did the same which has affected everyone including our coworker’s families.”
“OMC has had an employee crisis fund for quite some time now, but the need has never been greater than it is now. The committee of coworkers wanted to do something to raise money for each other.”
OMC started “T-shirt Friday” so patients and visitors can see OMC coworkers wearing t-shirts with messages saying “Better Together” and “#OMCStrong” as a way to remind the community that we are all in this together.
“OMC continues to operate to meet the needs of the communities we have the honor of serving,” said Keller. “How we continue to overcome this pandemic will be through the unified efforts of our community.”
Ozarks Medical Center is a system of care encompassing eight primary care and 17 specialty clinics, along with complete rehabilitation, behavioral healthcare, and home care services. While the 114-bed acute care hospital cares for more than 5,400 admissions, the entire medical system has more than 364,000 patient visits annually in South Central Missouri and Northern Arkansas.
