An incident allegedly stemming from a fight 30 years ago ends with charges in Oregon County.
According to a probable cause statement Oregon County Deputy Austin Combs was dispatched to the slab at Thomasville for a possible weapon violation. When he arrived the reporting party stated that Joseph “Joey” Crites had pulled a weapon on another man after a small altercation.
The reporting party stated that Joey had came to the slab with another person and left after the initial confrontation. He then returned 45 minutes to an hour later demanding an apology for being kicked in the head in a fight 30 years ago, the victim denied doing that to him. Witnesses asked Crites to not act that way in front of three minor children that were present. After more words were exchanged Joey allegedly got a pistol from his side by side cocked it and pointed it at the victims head, the minor children were only about 15 feet away. According to witnesses he lowered the gun after about five minutes.
Crites is charged with Unlwaful Use of a Weapon and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
