Ozark County Sheriff’s Department arrests four, find dead sheep

With the assistance of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, four (4) male subjects were taken into custody by Ozark County deputies Friday morning on Highway 95 in the Brixey-Rockbridge area.
Friday (5/21) at 6:58am, the Ozark County Dispatch received a call from Douglas County Dispatch in reference to four (4) males acting suspicious, walking around the Brixey/Rockbridge Fire Department. Douglas County dispatched Sheriff Chris Degase to the area due to not knowing if the individuals had made it into Douglas County.
As Ozark County Sergeant Justin Brown was en route to the scene, Sheriff Degase detained three (3) males and had one male in the area on foot, armed with a shotgun.
During the investigation, a shotgun was fired approximately 50 yards from the scene. A few minutes later, the male who had left the scene on foot, was spotted walking north on Highway 95 towards the scene. The male was taken into custody by Ozark County Sergeant Justin Brown without incident. When asked where the firearm was, the individual stated he left the gun in the ditch approximately 50 yards from where he was taken into custody. The firearm was located and found to have 1 loaded round in the chamber and two loaded rounds in the magazine.
Upon search of the vehicle the four (4) men were traveling in, a green, leafy substance was located, along with drug paraphernalia. In the backseat of the vehicle, a field dressed sheep, with an ear-tag was also located.
The 4 men are currently being held in the Ozark County Jail pending formal charges.
The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Chris Degase for their assistance with this call.
