Ozarks Spring NSDAR presents Rick Fraizer with Community Service Award

WEST PLAINS, MISSOURI:  On October 4, 2025, Ms. Rebekah McKinney, Chapter Regent, Ozark Spring NSDAR presented Rick Frazier with the Daughters of the American Revolution’s (DAR) Community Service Award.

The NSDAR Conservation Award is a one-time per recipient award – honor that recognizes adult and youth volunteers, including DAR members, with distinguished conservation records; businesses that exhibit sustained efforts to improve the environment or to educate the public on conservation issues; and compensated individuals who go above and beyond the requirements of their jobs.

Rick Frazier retired from being a UPS driver after 25 years. During that time he was recognized for saving two different peoples’ lives on his route. One was a elderly lady that was on his route and as he drove by her house, he saw smoke and he stopped and knocked on the door when she didn’t answer he kicked the door in and she was asleep on the couch. He pulled her out and continued to go back in and get things important like her pictures on the wall. The other time he was on his route and he drove by where someone was mowing on a ditch line and the mower had turned over and the man was trapped and the mower wasleaking gas. Rick got the mower off him.

 

Rick is a Charter member of Cystic Fibrosis of Missouri and Cystic Fibrosis of West Plains. He has worked endlessly to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis, to help other CF families and to raise money for cystic fibrosis research. Two of his biggest projects are a Fishing Tournament which will host its 41st year and a Concert that will be hosting its 38th year in the Spring.

Rick is very active in his community and helps with many events. He jumps in without having to be asked. His daughter, Jessica Joice-Frazier says, “My Dad always says, give back to your Community and help where you can.”

Rick currently works at West Plains Bank & Trust, and lives in West Plains, Missouri, with his wife Lois.

To be eligible, the nominee’s criterion includes a nomination of worthy recognition submitted to the National Conservation Committee, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and must be accompanied by professional letters of recommendations from others in in their field that highlights the nominees lasting contributions in wildlife and nature centers; resource management; park establishment; youth leadership; conservation-related media and education.
