From the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office:
On April 14, 2026, Lloyd Yost, age 56 of Ava, was arrested by Deputy Sam Evans and Sgt. Aaron Box. Deputy Evans initiated a traffic stop on Yost for an equipment violation at the intersection of Springfield Road and Jefferson Street in Ava.
Yost is a repeat offender and a known user/distributor of methamphetamine. K-9 York was deployed on the vehicle, and he alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of illegal narcotics. During a search of the vehicle, an orange and black magnetic box was located on the vehicle containing a glass pipe containing a crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Yost admitted he would fail a drug test and admitted he used methamphetamine the day prior.
A warrant was issued for Possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, prior drug offense, and failure to equip a motor vehicle with approved red tail lamps. Bond was set at $5000 cash only.
Yost’s last arrest was in 2023, and he was allowed to attend drug court. Yost was sentenced to 12 years in the Department of Corrections, which was suspended if he successfully completed drug court and probation. Yost recently graduated from drug court and was on supervised probation.
Prosecutor Weatherman also filed a motion to revoke Yost’s probation. If his probation is revoked, Yost should be sent to the Department of Corrections for 12 years. Yost has had 7 prior drug arrests since 2010.
Sheriff Degase stated, “The system gives offenders every chance to succeed, just as in this case. You can provide someone with all the resources possible, and it comes down to THEY HAVE TO WANT TO CHANGE. If they don’t want to change and continue to commit criminal offenses, we need to stop wasting our resources and send them to prison.”
