WEST PLAINS, Mo.- Community members, local leaders, and Veterans gathered today to celebrate the official ribbon cutting for the newly constructed John J. Pershing VA Medical Center’s West Plains Clinic. The event marked the opening of a modern facility designed to expand access to VA health care across the region.
The new clinic was built specifically with rural Veterans in mind, aiming to reduce travel time and bring more services closer to home. According to VA officials, the site will offer both medical and mental health care, supported by updated technology and expanded specialty options, including the addition of the Cardio‑Vet program for coordinated heart care.
Leaders emphasized that the clinic represents a significant investment in the region and will help ensure Veterans receive timely, high‑quality care. The facility is intended to “deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time,” strengthening support for eligible Veterans throughout southern Missouri.
